MOSH-MOAH

Technological solutions for diagnosing critical contamination points caused by mineral oil saturated hydrocarbons (MOSH) and aromatic hydrocarbons (MOAH) in food
1 July, 2025

Objective

The general objective of MOSH-MOAH is to develop an innovative technological solution that enables the detection, quantification and precise control of MOSH and MOAH contaminants in the food production chain, by combining analytical methodologies based on advanced chromatographic techniques with mitigation strategies based on supercritical CO.

Activities

  1. Prospective study of the main sources of MOSH and MOAH contamination in industry and definition of the experimental models to be studied.
  2. Development of the experimental methodology for the analysis of MOSH and MOAH using advanced chromatographic techniques in the matrices under study.
  3. Assessment of the origin of potential MOSH and MOAH contamination and of the potential of supercritical CO₂ processes in mitigation strategies.
  4. Coordination and management.
  5. Dissemination and communication.
  6. Technology transfer and promotion of results.
