Objective
Application, adaptation and optimisation of the chemical recycling methods, depolymerisation, developed during REVALORIZA I on post-consumer biodegradable plastic packaging, for example PLA or PHAs, in a real environment, with the aim of obtaining compounds that can be used as building blocks in the development of new bio-based polymers and other added-value compounds with applications in industries related to packaging, for example chemicals, packaging, coatings, adhesives, among others.
Activities
- Adaptation of packaging waste to the recycling process
- Optimisation of chemical recycling processes for biopolymers and application to post-consumer packaging.
- Development of chemical polymerisation processes using building blocks obtained through chemical recycling
- Communication and dissemination of the project
- Transfer of results
Results
- Validation of chemical recycling technologies applied to post-consumer biodegradable packaging.
- Valorisation of bioplastic waste by obtaining high added-value intermediate compounds.
- Definition of conditioning and sanitisation processes for post-consumer packaging, promoting their integration into circular economy strategies.
- Modelling study and advanced computational tools to support the design and optimisation of materials.
