HEALTHYTOOTH II

Objective

The overall objective of the project is to complete the development of a targeted antimicrobial strategy against pathogens that cause dental caries, specifically Streptococcus mutans, through the use of an endolysin.

Activities

1. Development and optimisation of the production process for an endolysin with lytic activity against an oral pathogen.
2. Stabilisation of an endolysin with lytic activity against oral pathogens.
3. Development and optimisation of the purification process for an endolysin with lytic activity against an oral pathogen.
4. Preclinical efficacy and safety trials of an endolysin with lytic activity against oral pathogens, using complex microbiota models and an artificial mouth system.
5. Formulation of prototypes and assessment of the stability and effectiveness of the ingredient in cosmetic matrices.
