Analysis of the risks of packaging migration into the product

The packaging manufacturing and use value chain must ensure traceability regarding the suitability of the materials being used.

Producers of packaging, materials or packaging additives need to offer safe packaging solutions that comply with legislation on packaging materials in contact with food.

Packaging users need to have information from their suppliers that enables them to be sure that the packaging or packaging materials received are suitable for the products they are going to pack, taking into account their specific production processes, the product’s distribution conditions and how the end user will use the packaging, especially if it is to be heated in a microwave or oven. Even if the company does not know the detailed formulation of what it receives from a supplier, each company must have Declarations of Conformity or Adequate Information for the raw materials supplied to it and for the intended use for which they are supplied.
