AINIA / Soluciones y servicios / Modulation of colonic microbiota (in vitro)
- Beauty, health and wellbeing
Tests in a dynamic colonic fermentation digester
Evaluate gastrointestinal resistance, intestinal absorption and the functionality of bioactive compounds, including their ability to modulate the gut microbiota.
Obtain scientific evidence of the healthy effect of an ingredient, active ingredient or food
- Bioaccessibility
- Bioavailability
- Modulation of the gut microbiota
- Antioxidant effect
- Anti-inflammatory effect
- Satiety effect
- Eye health
- Muscle metabolism
- Etc.
At AINIA, we add value
- In vitro studies replace the use of animals in experimentation (a point to take into account especially for the cosmetics and food sectors).
- We design tailor-made tests to evaluate any type of functionality.
- We can simulate different population groups (children, adults, seniors) / types of monogastric animals (pigs, dogs…).
- In vitro dynamic digestion equipment that offers greater representativeness and reproducibility than static in vivo or in vitro tests.
- More than 10 years of experience in these in vitro systems, designed in-house.
Tests in a dynamic colonic fermentation digester (microbiota modulation)
- Dynamic colonic fermentation digester
Composed of five compartments: stomach, small intestine and the three sections of the large intestine (ascending, transverse and descending colon). Like the previous one, it is computer-controlled and each compartment applies the particular pH, enzyme secretion, etc. conditions that are relevant. These tests last 1 month (7-11 days for stabilising the microbiota with which we inoculate, and about 3 weeks for the test itself).
Here we mainly study:
- Changes in the gut microbiota, at the level of viable microorganisms (classic microbiological counts) and at metagenomics level
- Generation of certain secondary metabolites
- Metabolomic studies
