Bioaccessibility and bioavailability
Obtaining scientific evidence of the health benefit of an ingredient, active substance or food
Evaluating gastrointestinal resistance, intestinal absorption and the functionality of bioactive compounds, including their ability to modulate the intestinal microbiota, are essential stages in the development of functional foods. The integrated system combining the in vitro Dynamic Digester and cell models allows us to study the gastrointestinal resistance of compounds contained in foods, their intestinal absorption and their functional effect on target organs.
- Bioaccessibility
- Bioavailability
- Modulation of the intestinal microbiota
- Antioxidant effect
- Anti-inflammatory effect
- Satiety effect
- Eye health
- Muscle metabolism
At AINIA, we add value
- Extensive experience in assays for anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, antioxidant and neuroprotective functionality, bone health, etc.
- We design customised assays. We can work with practically any functionality, both with “simple” cultures and co-cultures, combining two types of cell lines.
Tests in an in vitro dynamic digester and cell culture assays
We study functionality using the appropriate cell models and biomarkers for the functionality of interest. These are designed on a customised basis.
- Evaluation of the gastrointestinal resistance, bioaccessibility or digestibility of an ingredient or active substance using the in vitro dynamic digester.
- Evaluation of the bioavailability and health-related functionality of an ingredient or active substance using cell models.
- Evaluation of intestinal microbiota modulation using the dynamic colonic fermentation digester.
