First pilot plant to generate energy and nutrients from rice straw

The European SOSTRICE project starts this year with the aim of reducing greenhouse gas emissions from rice cultivation, specifically straw management, and improving its management in environmental and economic terms. To do this, a new model of management and treatment of rice straw will be developed based on technologies of combustion (straw combustion with other residues) and anaerobic digestion, in order to convert this by-product into energy.
