Anticipating the future is always a risky exercise, but we undoubtedly have elements that allow us to identify food hazards that are emerging with sufficient strength to predict that they will occupy us in the near future.
Based on our work in identifying emerging food safety risks, we will review the emerging risks that can be inferred as having the most likely impact in the coming years. Risks such as the increased incidence of aflatoxins, the emergence and development of antimicrobial resistance, or the presence of microplastics in food are examples of these new risks.
