Objective
To contribute to improving the marketing of fresh fish from extractive fishing in the Valencian Community, through the implementation of different complementary and synergistic actions.
The objective will be achieved through four strategies: the creation of an application to promote lesser-known or less demanded species; the identification of consumer needs and preferences in order to subsequently adapt the offer of the fishermen’s guilds; the evaluation study of innovative sanitisation systems for fresh fish that make it possible to improve its shelf life; and the assessment of alternative commercial packaging systems in fish markets and fishmongers.
Activities
Carrying out studies on new ways of presenting fish to the end consumer, as well as new marketing channels and innovation in extractive fishery products. The activities to be carried out will be:
- Development of a mobile application aimed at consumers, contributing to promoting the consumption of lesser-known or less demanded species through recipe proposals, availability calendars, etc.
- Identification of consumer needs and preferences, in order to have the information required to adapt the offer, through co-creation processes with consumers and fishermen’s guilds.
- Assessment of the effectiveness of new sanitisation systems for fresh fish based on innovative technologies to extend the preservation of fresh fish without altering its organoleptic quality.
- Study of the different packaging systems, both in primary production, fish market, and those intended for the end consumer. Assessment of alternative commercial solutions with a lower environmental impact.
