Recycling and revalorisation of biodegradable materials II

Objective

Application, adaptation and optimisation of the chemical recycling methods, depolymerisation, developed during REVALORIZA I on post-consumer biodegradable plastic packaging, for example PLA or PHAs, in a real environment, with the aim of obtaining compounds that can be used as building blocks in the development of new bio-based polymers and other added-value compounds with applications in industries related to packaging, for example chemicals, packaging, coatings, adhesives, among others.

 

Activities

  1. Adaptation of packaging waste to the recycling process
  2. Optimisation of chemical recycling processes for biopolymers and application to post-consumer packaging.
  3. Development of chemical polymerisation processes using building blocks obtained through chemical recycling
  4. Communication and dissemination of the project
  5. Transfer of results

 

Results

  • Validation of chemical recycling technologies applied to post-consumer biodegradable packaging.
  • Valorisation of bioplastic waste by obtaining high added-value intermediate compounds.
  • Definition of conditioning and sanitisation processes for post-consumer packaging, promoting their integration into circular economy strategies.
  • Modelling study and advanced computational tools to support the design and optimisation of materials.
