Eco-design of packaging and recyclability

Sustainability, safety (food safety) and profitability

More sustainable packaging that guarantees food safety with economic viability

According to the European Strategy for Plastics in a Circular Economy, by 2030, all plastic packaging on the EU market must be reusable or recyclable in a cost-effective way. In addition to reducing environmental impact, the aim is to reduce dependence on fossil sources, minimise food waste and adapt packaging to new consumer demands. The evolution of packaging therefore focuses on finding a balance between shelf life, product safety and environmental impact.

At AINIA, we add value

Packaging eco-design

In the design of disruptive packaging, we involve all stakeholders in the value chain, through to the final consumer, in order to achieve technical-economic feasibility.

Taking into account the product to be contained, we define the combination of materials (polymeric or otherwise) and packaging systems to achieve safe and functional packaging that is easy to recycle and ergonomic.

The use of bioplastics or the incorporation of new additives through microencapsulation or impregnation techniques with supercritical fluids; or the use of nanomaterials makes it possible to obtain packaging with new functionalities.

Throughout the entire design process, the national and EU regulatory framework relating to the use of materials in contact with food and cosmetics, among others, is considered.
