Wastewater treatment
We provide independent support and specialised technical resources for decision-making on industrial or urban wastewater treatment.
Meeting wastewater discharge legislation requirements
- Treated wastewater represents a very high cost for companies, which can reach several million euros in some industries.
These are production costs that need to be optimised. In addition, companies that discharge wastewater into sewers or other receiving environments are subject to administrative procedures for the payment of taxes according to the degree of pollution of their discharges. Companies face penalties and even factory closures if they fail to comply with discharge limits and other legal requirements.
- However, industries cannot rely on such specialised resources, which is why they need independent suppliers or specialists to support decision-making regarding investments in new wastewater treatment plants, or replacements or extensions of existing ones to improve their performance.
At AINIA, we add value
- Greater technical and economic security in decision-making on investment or improvement expenditure in wastewater treatment
- Reduction of costs associated with wastewater treatment
- Reduction of the sanitation levy cost
- Regulatory compliance
-
Availability of technical resources to carry out treatability tests on the client’s specific wastewater.
Example: anaerobic treatability tests of wastewater or membrane filtration tests
- Independent advisory support, as we do not sell wastewater treatment facilities
- Specialisation in agri-food wastewater treatment technologies
- Specialisation in identifying minimisation opportunities within production plants, or regeneration and reuse for irrigation or other uses
Wastewater treatment
- Sampling and characterisation of wastewater entering the treatment plant. Includes physicochemical and microbiological parameters
We use control probes, automatic samplers, etc. Technical and legal advisory support in sanitation levy procedures.
- Identification of opportunities to reduce the volume and/or pollutant load of internal factory streams (minimisation) (see circular water management service in industries)
- Laboratory-scale or pilot-scale wastewater treatability tests through biological or physicochemical processes such as aerobic or anaerobic biological treatment, membrane filtration, etc.
- Conceptual design of treatment processes and sizing of the treatments to be applied
- Selection of treatment technologies
- Support for companies in selecting wastewater treatment technology providers, including the preparation of technical specifications
