{"id":55086,"date":"2025-09-18T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2025-09-18T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ainia.endesarrollo.pro\/transparencia\/satisphaction-upcycling-phas-to-innovative-materials-for-fully-sustainable-food-packaging\/"},"modified":"2025-09-18T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2025-09-18T00:00:00","slug":"satisphaction-upcycling-phas-to-innovative-materials-for-fully-sustainable-food-packaging","status":"publish","type":"transparencia","link":"https:\/\/ainia.endesarrollo.pro\/pt\/transparencia\/satisphaction-upcycling-phas-to-innovative-materials-for-fully-sustainable-food-packaging\/","title":{"rendered":"SATISPHACTION: Upcycling PHAs to innovative materials for fully sustainable food packaging"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>O <a href=\"https:\/\/www.satisphaction.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">projeto SATISPHACTION<\/a> foi concedido em 2025 com um or\u00e7amento de 3,7 milh\u00f5es de euros na altamente competitiva convocat\u00f3ria EIC PATHFINDER CHALLENGE \u00abNature inspired alternatives for food packaging and films for agriculture\u00bb, financiado pela Comiss\u00e3o Europeia atrav\u00e9s do European Innovation Council (EIC) e da SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA).<\/p>\n<p>Os pl\u00e1sticos convencionais representam um dos principais desafios ambientais atuais devido \u00e0 sua depend\u00eancia de recursos f\u00f3sseis e aos problemas decorrentes da contamina\u00e7\u00e3o por micropl\u00e1sticos dos ecossistemas terrestres e marinhos. Neste contexto, os <strong>PHAs (polihidroxialcanoatos) <\/strong>surgem como uma alternativa promissora, uma vez que s\u00e3o biopol\u00edmeros produzidos naturalmente por bact\u00e9rias, aptos para o contacto alimentar e completamente biodegrad\u00e1veis, mesmo no meio marinho. No entanto, o seu elevado custo de produ\u00e7\u00e3o e a sua limitada processabilidade restringem a sua utiliza\u00e7\u00e3o generalizada.  <\/p>\n<p>Contudo, a sua presen\u00e7a no mercado \u00e9 condicionada pelo elevado custo e pelas propriedades finais dos pol\u00edmeros obtidos atrav\u00e9s dos atuais m\u00e9todos de produ\u00e7\u00e3o. A dificuldade de obter pl\u00e1sticos para embalagem alimentar exclusivamente a partir de PHA faz com que seja necess\u00e1rio combin\u00e1-lo com aditivos ou outros biopl\u00e1sticos como PLA, PBS ou PBAT, perdendo a sua biodegradabilidade e limitando a sua posterior reciclagem. <\/p>\n<p>Para abordar estas limita\u00e7\u00f5es, o projeto SATISPHACTION visa o desenvolvimento de processos inovadores de reciclagem qu\u00edmica e bi\u00f3tica. O projeto apoiar-se-\u00e1 no uso da qu\u00edmica computacional e da IA para obter pol\u00edmeros de PHA com propriedades melhoradas, o que conduzir\u00e1 a formula\u00e7\u00f5es pl\u00e1sticas menos dependentes da aditiva\u00e7\u00e3o e da combina\u00e7\u00e3o com outros pol\u00edmeros para cumprir os requisitos de processabilidade. Al\u00e9m disso, o projeto explorar\u00e1 a integra\u00e7\u00e3o de enzimas termoest\u00e1veis para uma autodegrada\u00e7\u00e3o acelerada. Estes desenvolvimentos ser\u00e3o validados atrav\u00e9s da elabora\u00e7\u00e3o de tr\u00eas prot\u00f3tipos de embalagem alimentar: bandejas termoformadas, saquetas flex\u00edveis termossel\u00e1veis e bioadesivos para etiquetas. Esta nova abordagem de upcycling permitir\u00e1 obter embalagens de pl\u00e1stico PHA economicamente vi\u00e1veis e totalmente biodegrad\u00e1veis.    <\/p>\n<p>SATISPHACTION \u00e9 um projeto com 4 anos de dura\u00e7\u00e3o, coordenado pela AINIA, no qual participam 9 parceiros de 5 pa\u00edses europeus diferentes: Fran\u00e7a, Reino Unido, B\u00e9lgica, Portugal e Espanha. O cons\u00f3rcio combina a excel\u00eancia cient\u00edfica e t\u00e9cnica proporcionada pelas universidades e centros de I+D (AINIA, Centro de Investigaci\u00f3n Biol\u00f3gica Margarita Salas CIB-CSIC, NOVA id, King\u2019s College London e NAITEC) com o apoio de empresas inovadoras no setor dos pl\u00e1sticos (Natureplast e Polykey), especialistas em certifica\u00e7\u00e3o de sustentabilidade (Normec OWS) e representantes da ind\u00fastria da embalagem (Packaging Cluster). <\/p>\n<p>As capacidades que ser\u00e3o desenvolvidas no projeto incluem:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Upcycling qu\u00edmico e enzim\u00e1tico de biopol\u00edmeros<\/li>\n<li>Reciclagem de biopol\u00edmeros atrav\u00e9s de c\u00e9lulas vivas<\/li>\n<li>Engenharia de estirpes para a fermenta\u00e7\u00e3o microbiana<\/li>\n<li>Descoberta de pol\u00edmeros assistida por IA<\/li>\n<li>Polimeriza\u00e7\u00e3o organocatal\u00edtica de PHAs<\/li>\n<li>Formula\u00e7\u00f5es com enzimas termoest\u00e1veis para uma biodegrada\u00e7\u00e3o acelerada<\/li>\n<li>Formula\u00e7\u00e3o de bioadesivos e biopl\u00e1sticos<\/li>\n<li>Aplica\u00e7\u00e3o da metodologia Safe and Sustainable by Design \u00e0 embalagem alimentar<\/li>\n<li>An\u00e1lise de biodegradabilidade em ecossistemas simulados (meio marinho, \u00e1gua doce e solo)<\/li>\n<li>An\u00e1lise de ciclo de vida nas perspetivas ambiental, econ\u00f3mica e social<\/li>\n<li>Cumprimento da regulamenta\u00e7\u00e3o alimentar<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-185486 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ainia.endesarrollo.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/satisphaction-map.png\" alt=\"SATISPHACTION. Mapa de projetos da Uni\u00e3o Europeia\" width=\"567\" height=\"319\"><\/p>\n<p>O projeto, que teve in\u00edcio a 1 de outubro de 2025, ter\u00e1 impacto no setor de produ\u00e7\u00e3o de biopl\u00e1sticos com alternativas circulares e rent\u00e1veis aos pl\u00e1sticos de carbono f\u00f3ssil, reduzindo a depend\u00eancia de fontes n\u00e3o renov\u00e1veis e refor\u00e7ando a competitividade da ind\u00fastria europeia.
