To achieve this, four key technologies have been used: <em>in vitro<\/em> technology based on 3D cellular models, separation technologies, chemical characterisation technologies and controlled release technologies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">One of the main advances has been the improvement of a <strong>cell platform<\/strong> that rapidly and reliably identifies natural molecules with therapeutic potential. This has made it possible to verify the anti-inflammatory effect of plant extracts such as pomegranate and pistachio.<\/p>\n\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-185214 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/ainia.endesarrollo.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/pharmanova22.jpg\" alt=\"AINIA develops advanced models and clean extraction techniques to transform plant by-products into new molecules with potential therapeutic benefit\" width=\"1500\" height=\"844\" \/><\/strong><\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>3D models and gut-on-chip that mimic the response of the human colon<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Within the framework of this project, the AINIA team has developed <strong>advanced cellular models<\/strong> from human colorectal carcinoma cells to study their mechanism of action. Among the techniques developed, <strong>3D culture techniques<\/strong> stand out for the generation of <strong>intestinal spheroids<\/strong>, three-dimensional cellular structures that mimic the organisation and behaviour of human tissue. Based on these, <strong>3D inflamed colon models<\/strong> have been created, allowing a more representative evaluation of the response of intestinal cells to natural compounds with therapeutic potential. In particular, with this technology it has been possible to observe the anti-inflammatory action of a postbiotic \u0097a beneficial compound produced during fermentation\u0097 and pomegranate extract.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In addition, an innovative technology known as <strong><em>gut-on-chip<\/em><\/strong> has been used, a small device that simulates the conditions of the human intestine. This tool allows real-time monitoring of how inflammatory processes evolve and how the studied compounds act on them.<\/p>\n\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Cleaner technologies to obtain natural ingredients of interest<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Another line of work has focused on using supercritical CO?, a more sustainable and environmentally friendly extraction technology. Thanks to this method, more stable pomegranate and pistachio fractions have been obtained with <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ainia.com\/ainia-news\/innovacion-en-terapias-naturales-para-la-salud-digestiva\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a higher concentration of compounds that may contribute to improving inflammatory processes.<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">To analyse these extracts accurately, the team has also developed a technique that makes it possible to reliably measure the presence of tocotrienols, a type of vitamin E with antioxidant properties and potential benefits against inflammation.<\/p>\n\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Towards more effective and natural treatments<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The project has also made it possible to design a double encapsulation system that protects natural compounds during digestion, ensuring that they reach the colon, where they must exert their action.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ainia.com\/ainia-news\/ainia-desarrolla-12-nuevos-proyectos-id-con-apoyo-ivace\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PHARMANOVA II is a project supported by IVACE<\/a>,<\/strong> through the FEDER Comunitat Valenciana 2021-2027 Programme funded by the European Union, and developed in collaboration with the companies Nova Terra Foods and Monteloeder.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/p>\n<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-185586\" src=\"https:\/\/ainia.endesarrollo.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/logo-ivace-fondos-europeos-300x19-1.png\" alt=\"Logo IVACE European Funds\" width=\"300\" height=\"19\" \/>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Within the framework of the PHARMANOVA II project, AINIA has developed new biotechnological solutions based on plant by-products to treat inflammatory diseases of the colon, such as ulcerative colitis or Crohn\u0092s disease.
